Becoming a Crazy Coupon Lady

I have always enjoyed being frugal. Thanks to my mother’s patient counseling, I have learned how to save money through budgeting, looking for the best prices on groceries, cooking from scratch, and other frugal living methods.

However, until recently I had been missing out on one of the most exciting ways to save money- couponing. I was introduced to the couponing way of life by my sister. She has been successfully using coupons for over a year now, and she has saved thousands of dollars for her family of 5 by using coupons.

For you to really understand my story, I must give you a short background. I graduated from BYU-I in July with high hopes of finding a perfect job. I spent hours everyday searching and applying for positions, but there were not a lot of options. I decided that I needed to find something that I could do during my week to feel productive while I continued my job search. I developed a few hobbies, and one of these was couponing.

I began reading blogs and collecting and printing coupons, and soon I was a coupon addict. It became a game for me to see how much I could save on groceries. I was amazed how much I could save on everyday items. I used to think that coupons were only for products that I did not need anyway- I soon proved my self wrong. How many of you buy cereal (I am guessing most of you). I used to think it was too expensive- now I usually get it for $1 a box or less.

I am no longer unemployed, but my hobby of shopping with coupons has become a lifestyle. My goal is to be able to help each of you save money by budgeting, using coupons, shopping sales and promotions, cooking from scratch, and more.
